5-Point Program
Blindness is a terrible fate with enormous personal, social, and economic consequences that can condemn otherwise healthy individuals to lives of poverty and dependence. There are solutions, however, and close to 80 percent of all blindness can be prevented or treated. Dedicated to the elimination of preventable blindness in Armenia, the EyeCare Project is a program that works.
Founded in 1992 and incorporated in 2001, the EyeCare Project is a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation. Over the past 15 years—with programs that combat the debilitating causes of blindness—we have been able to treat eye disease, restore sight and change lives. The Project's mission is to eliminate preventable blindness and make eye care accessible to all Armenians. To accomplish our mission we have developed a Five-Point Initiative in Armenia, "Bringing Sight to Armenia Eyes," which includes medical education and training; direct patient care; public education; research; and capacity building.
