Affecting access to quality eye care for the remote communities and schools in Armenia is the lack of trained local medical personnel to meet the needs of the population.

To address this challenge the Project provides training sessions in the local regions.  Education and eye screening are the most effective methods of preventing eye disease and disorders in children.  Early identification and intervention will prevent long-term problems and blindness.  Training sessions provide nurses with an overview of eye care and safety along with the knowledge and the materials required to educate the children in their schools with an emphasis on prevention and early intervention to eliminate preventable blindness. Your gift of $300 will provide a four-day training session for the school nurses in a region of Armenia providing them with a comprehensive knowledge base in eye care.
